After taking years to grow up and discover the world (more or less taking my retirement while I was still young), I went back to school in my 50s. Shortly before my 60th birthday, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Oregon, with a BA in English. I am extremely lucky to have the perfect job right now. I work from my home for a wonderful behavioral scientist who wants to make the world a better place. He is a prolific writer, and I edit everything he writes. I began as a secretary, then moved up the ranks until I outgrew my job. Eventually, they created a new job description for me because no one else was doing what I do there (well, here at home, actually, often in pajamas, by the woodstove, with my critters around me). I love reading. I read with a dictionary at my side: my dictionary has hundreds of post-it markers sticking out of it, as I highlight and mark every new word I learn. This visual thesaurus is amazing and I know I will use it ceaselessly.
