About Me
I've been a high school reading teacher for 28 years and I can't imagine doing anything else. My classes are developmental rather than remedial, built on the belief that we all need to continue to grow as readers for the rest of our lives. I love sharing books with teens, learning about them through their discussion of their favorite reads. Helping students expand their vocabulary could be so much more fun with VT. Can't wait to start using it this fall myself so that I can learn ways to inspire my juniors & seniors! My husband & I have two adult kids and two grand kids who are just starting first grade. We love to travel, garden, and tour wineries. Life is good. (I think I'll rephrase that eventually after some time with VT!)

Favorite Word:

antler
This word, pronounced by my son at age 3, sounded so cute that it became our family's code word. It reminds me of giggles, cute little kids, beautiful deer in the Pennsylvania forests near my childhood home, and the polar bears at the zoo who play with antlers in their little lake.

Least Favorite Word:

ointment
There's something about "oi" words that just isn't pleasant. Also, things that need ointment usually aren't very pretty either. However, if one is cursed with such blemishes, one is greatly soothed by creamy salves and balms.
