My interest in the English language arises from several years in the publishing and design business and, more recently, several years of teaching English to migrants and university students from overseas. I have learned what can only be described as 'bits and pieces' of several languages, and this provides insight into the struggles my students have with English. I use the Visual Thesaurus primarily to find better ways of explaining the inter-relatedness of words and their meanings. Sometimes, a picture is worth a thousand words.
