I have a lifelong love of linguistics, etymology, and phonology and how they are part of speaking and the craft of writing. I treasure every word for its uniqueness and how the knowledge of many words can aid in communicating more succinctly. Unfortunately age and medication have dulled my little gray cells and my vocabulary is not what it once was. Vocabulary.com seems to be a way to rouse myself from the mental torpor into which I have let myself slip. Words are precious. They describe the way we see the world around and within us. In many ways words are the arbiters of our reality. The more we know the richer that world can be.
