I have my own business, providing copy for websites primarily. I'm a former newspaper reporter with an MBA. I've worked with people who love language, people who'd rather not be bothered by it (visual artists, chiefly) and too many who are extremely literal and miss subtleties.

Favorite Word:
mollifyI like the way it sounds like what it means--there's a rolling sound to it that captures the idea of smoothing over rough edges.
Least Favorite Word:
presentlyYou can tell just from the visual thesaurus that this word is misunderstood. Does it mean soon or now? Originally, it meant soon, but a lot of people thought they sounded smarter by saying "presently" instead of "now"--as in, "presently it's 37 degrees outside our weather studios." So now we really don't know what somebody means when they use it. This isn't the only instance of such a word, but you get my point.
