The colloquial use this word has gained in the past 20 years is symbolic for our culture. Are we somehow pre-ordained to degenerate into creatures who will communicate using acronyms and one-word messages? We'll be back to fighting bears for the right to live in the caves and drawing with ochre and ashes I suppose.
