Having determined in 1981 not to bypass a non-understood word, prefix or suffix, I have always tried to do so -- one of the best resolutions of my life. If Latin were taught to civilised children today, as it was not taught me, the Western world would be greatly bettered, as so many "non-understood" words seem to be Latin or Latinised Greek derivatives. 'Words are thoughts,' is a true adage. Instead, America & Britain are reducing their vocabularies to Basic English, since 'multiculturalism' focuses on doing all things poorly and few things well. At 59, I consider my English abilities finally to have but begun to excel.
When societies consider 'mediocrity' to have become 'excellence', what must they then consider 'fair' or 'poor' to be? Only a miracle or a revolution will restore Western Civilisation -- the alternative is unthinkable.
