I like the way it sounds. Well-to-do English gentry used words such as "plethora" with unmatched sophistication during the 30's and 40's, especially in old black and white movies. And the snootier the tone used with "plethora," the more delightful it soundsed.
If ever a word has been overused to the point of qualifying as cruel and unusual punishment, it's the word "awesome," especially when preceded with "so." I'm tired of hearing that I'm so awesome; you're tired of hearing that you're so awesome. In fact, even GOD is tired of hearing He's so awesome. Find another word.
