About Me
A wordsmith who appreciates good prose and poetry, I have taught English for over twenty years in Houston independent schools. When I'm not teaching, I love to travel--both literally and figuratively through the reading experience (Think Keats' "On First Looking into Chapman's Homer")--garden, do yoga, play bridge, and watch old films, especially if Katharine Hepburn stars. My husband and I are about to close on a second home in Maine, where I plan to learn to weave, sea-kayak, and grow lavender. We will divide our time between Maine and Texas until we retire, when we will officially become "snowbirds," migrating south for the winter but returning to the north for the summer months.

gallimaufry
Because it was the title of my high school literary magazine, of which I was the editor-in-chief, and it means a collection or assortment. It sounds whimsical.

Because my students overuse this weak verb, and its gutteral "g" is unpleasant.
