Here is a word which is rarely ever seen or used, yet depicts a habit of a very large percentage of the English speaking population in the United States.

I really do not have anything against this word personally, I just see it as representative of the general literacy problem extant in today's society. A patois of syncopated nomenclature leads eventually to a koine of lazy tongue, which propels us ever farther away from the proper English language.
