tolerance
is, by its 21st century usage, a pretty lame word. I'd rather do more than "put up with" someone. Imagine telling a child or friend, "I'll tolerate your presence in my life," or, "I guess you're alright." Tolerance says, "Do what you want. I won't even tell you what I think." Love can say, "I have a feeling you're wrong about this, and I have to say something because you're important to me."
