Starting college at age 45 is daunting after being a total failure at it when I was young (and had the time, energy, and financial backing to do it right.) Unfortunately, it wasn't until six months ago that I was diagnosed as having ADD since childhood. Well then, that explained a lot of things. Within an hour of the first dose of prescribed ADD meds, life was entirely different. I was focused and calm and soon developed the confidence to give school one more try. It's still not easy; I struggle with the same issues I had as a kid when it comes to learning and comprehension. But now I have tools to help me focus enough to get what I need in whatever way I need to get it to be successful. So far it's working; the semester is over in three weeks and I lost my first point today on an anatomy exam. I've got a 95% in English Composition currently. Both of these classes vex and frustrate me, but I've got a love/hate relationship going with them -- because I'm acutally doing it. I'm passing!
