After 16 years in the USA, my British accent is as pure as it was when I stepped into Washington Dulles airport on my first day. I was excited and totally thrilled to be here - it had been a dream of mine for many years and I felt confident that after having spent so much time in different parts of America as a tourist on vacation, it would not take me any time at all to feel at home......it took a lot longer than I expected as I had wildly Well, 16 years later I live in Raleigh, NC with my 12 year old son, Liam whom I adopted at the age of 4 days. Liam was born in Washington DC although his birth family originate from Guatemala, and is a football loving all American boy who is digging his heels in at my suggestion that learning a few words of Spanish might be a good idea. So far his vocabulary includes "Quesadillas", "yo no hable espanol" (I don't speak Spanish") and "dos Coca-Colas favor:" (I'll let you work that one out for yourselves)
