Institutional Sales
We offer a number of programs that make it easy for institutions to purchase the Visual Thesaurus and provide access to their population at a discounted rate. We also offer special discounts to accredited academic institutions.
Depending on your needs, we offer several options that make it easy to share the Visual Thesaurus with your organization:
Volume Licenses of the Desktop Edition (CD-ROM):
The Desktop Edition CD-ROM is installed on individual computers. Our Volume License program offers a significant discount for institutions that purchase 10 or more licenses at one time. The more you purchase, the lower the price per computer.
Please note that Desktop Edition customers do not get access to our award-winning Visual Thesaurus online magazine. To access the magazine, you must purchase a subscription to the Online Edition.
Site Licenses to the Online Edition:
A Site License to the Online Edition allows easy access to the Visual Thesaurus for your entire organization. Your organization also gets access to our award-winning Visual Thesaurus online magazine.
One advantage of a Site License is that your users do not have to remember a username and password. Instead, we provide a number of advanced authentication methods.
Site License pricing is calculated based on the entire population who has access to the Visual Thesaurus.
When determining the size of population for an Site License, it’s important that you count all the people who would be able to access the Visual Thesaurus using your account.
For example, if you are a school, and would like to use IP based authentication, you would count all the people who have access to the computers in that IP range. Typically, that might be an entire building or school district. Because of this, Site Licenses are not right for everyone. For example, a Site License would not be appropriate if you need to provide access to just one classroom or to a select group of employees in your marketing department.
If you would like to purchase a Site License to provide access to a subset of your population you must meet the following requirements:
- Only the Licensed Users may have access to the Visual Thesaurus through your subscription.
- No unlicensed user may use your subscription to access the Visual Thesaurus.
Typically, this requires that the subset of the population that you are purchasing for is on a distinct network or is in a separate facility. If you do not meet these requirements, you should consider a Group Subscription or a Volume License of the Desktop Edition for your computers.
Group Subscriptions to the Online Edition:
If you would like to provide access to a group of people who each have their own email address, then a Group Subscription may be right for you. Each user you add to your Group Subscription gets their own individual account and login that is linked to their email address. Additional users enjoy all the same features and functionality as the administrative user, but they have no access to billing and sensitive account information.
