If you've been keeping up with the latest Vocabulary.com news, you may have noticed that we've introduced information-rich dashboards for teachers and administrators in schools that have signed up for our Educator Edition. We wanted to share that data-driven goodness with all Vocabulary.com users, and so we've rolled out new features to monitor your progress and identify where you're having trouble.
Now, if you've signed up for a free account on Vocabulary.com, you'll see a brand-new progress page, with an engaging look that provides you with even more insights into all of your activity playing Vocabulary.com. It gives you a far richer, more nuanced view of how you are advancing toward your goals of vocabulary mastery.
When you are logged in, clicking on "My Progress" in the top right corner will take you to a summary page that gives you a handy overview of your activity on Vocabulary.com. At the top of the page, you'll see an interactive timeline of your progress, and under that is information about the points you have scored, the words you have mastered, the number of questions you have answered correctly and incorrectly, and total time spent playing Vocabulary.com.
By default, this timeline covers a range going back to when you first signed up for Vocabulary.com, but with the pull-down menu you can easily select other ranges, and the calendar allows you to specify any dates to begin and end the timeline. We've made it as flexible as possible so that you can look at how you've progressed over any time period you're interested in.
Below the timeline, you'll find three columns of information. On the left, you'll see the level that you've achieved, your overall rank this week and last week, and all of the achievements you've garnered along the way. In the center, if you are a student in a school that has signed up for the Vocabulary.com Educator Edition, you'll also see your recent points and ranking in any classes in which you are a member.
You'll also see all the progress you've made on vocabulary lists that you're learning. (We keep track of your progress on each list both as a practice activity and in terms of overall progress toward mastering those words on Vocabulary.com. We set the bar higher for overall mastery, so those percentages may differ.)
On the right hand side, you'll see a list of the words that give you most the trouble (ranked by how troublesome they are for you), as well as a list of recently mastered words.
If you want a deeper dive into your word data, just click on the "Words" tab at the top of the page to see complete lists of all the words that you have played on Vocabulary.com, as well as your trouble words, the words you're currently learning, and the words you've already mastered.
We hope that these new features help you attain your goals, no matter how you are looking to expand your vocabulary. When it comes to understanding your progress toward vocab mastery, knowledge is power!
