Vocabulary.com Garners Two Prestigious Library Honors

As part of the American Library Association annual conference this week, Vocabulary.com was selected for two significant honors. We are proud to announce them here and to extend our heartfelt thanks to the reference and school librarians who nominated and reviewed Vocabulary.com.

AASL Names Vocabulary.com "Best Website for Teaching and Learning"

The American Association for School Librarians conferred a "Best Website for Teaching and Learning" award on Vocabulary.com in the Content Resources category.

A division of the American Library Association, the AASL created the Best Websites for Teaching and Learning Award to acknowledge "free, web based educational resources…of exceptional value to inquiry-based teaching and learning, [that] foster the qualities of innovation, creativity, active participation, and collaboration [and] are user friendly and encourage a community of learners to explore and discover."

RUSA Honors Vocabulary.com Dictionary with the "Best Free Reference Websites for 2014" Award

Meanwhile, another branch of the American Library Association selected the Vocabulary.com Dictionary as one of 14 sites for the "Best Free Reference Websites for 2014" award.

Given by the MARS: Emerging Technologies in Reference section of the Reference and User Services Association of the ALA, the award acknowledges a reference website's "quality, depth, and usefulness of content, ready reference, uniqueness of content, currency of content, authority of producer, ease of use, customer service, efficiency, and appropriate use of the web as a medium."
