The Student Perspective: Vocabulary.com "Has Your Back"

"How many times have you learned a vocab list for week 2 in the semester and forgotten every single word by the time finals studying rolled around?" asks college sophomore Lili Borland in a review of Vocabulary.com for the student-run college admissions/college life website, The Prospect. "[Vocabulary.com] reinforces your vocabulary skills by strategically reintroducing words that you’ve already mastered, to retest and refresh your memory of the word."

Concluding that "keeping track of all those flashcards is such a hassle, but Vocabulary.com is hassle free," Borland's review gives readers a thorough look at what Vocabulary.com can do, — it's "smarter-than-you-think" — and ends with an original suggestion for how to build vocabulary learning into your daily life:

Set Vocabulary.com as your homepage on all your web browsers on all your computers. Now every time you open up a web page to start your research homework (but realistically check Facebook/Twitter/Tumbler/Buzzfeed and everything else), you can commit to completing a 10-question quiz round on your current vocab list before proceeding to a different website. (Honestly, it’ll surprise you how often you use the Internet every day). This way you don’t need alarms or post-its or reminders to get you to study your vocabulary.
