Recently, a user wrote into our support page: "Why are certain words from your dictionary not available for learning?" Here's our answer:
Throughout the site, you'll see green check marks next to words that are available for learning. When a word is available, or "learnable," it means you can select the Learn button on its Dictionary page and you'll start seeing questions on it when you play Vocabulary.com. You can also chose to learn that word as part of a Vocabulary List.
If you don't see a check mark, it means we haven't written and tested enough questions on that word to be able to teach it to you. But stick around. We're adding questions and making new words learnable every day.
