Visual Thesaurus Word of the Day
Sunday, June 24th beshrew Fie On You Word of the Day:
The meaning of this quite old-fashioned verb doesn't leap out immediately, but if you use the handy rule of thumb that be- verbs are usually transitive, and then reflect on a shrew's modus operandi, you may hit the jackpot: beshrew means "curse." The word showed up before the 12th century, but has been little used since the 19th.
