I was born into a large family in a small town. My parents were born in the early 1920's and did not complete high school but always taught us to use proper words and grammar. As my father died when I was 14 years old and no one in my family had attended college, I too assumed that I could not go to college. It was not spoken to and I did not know there were ways to afford / finance college. However, after marriage and two small children, I discovered that I could begin working on my prerequisites and did, in fact graduate with an Associate Degree in Science and Nursing Degree. I was always studying a thesaurus and always looking up definitions in the Dictionary. I believe that communication is difficult at best and words need be chosen carefully to express oneself in the most accurate way possible. I am likely of average intelligence but I strive to continue learning and the definitions, synonyms and anonyms are important on so many levels, for so many reasons.
