About Me
I am a retired English teacher in STEAM and ATEPS Academies to 9th and 11th grade students. Unfortunately since my retirement in 2013, the school administration which weakly endorsed the academies is not supporting them at all. Very sad as the program is much needed.

Favorite Word:

incontrovertible
Like its meaning which is irrefutable, the word means truth that is demonstrable - facts and supporting evidence in one or more forms that proves an argument. It challenges the mind to find and share facts and details that offer proof.

Least Favorite Word:

said
With so many synonyms to describe the spoken word, using said is a total let down. Minds wonder about tone when writers use said. Did the speaker shout, whimper, bellow or even whisper. So much can be directly and indirectly learned by using precision in word choice. With that being said, sometimes said can be an equally good choice. When you don't want to distract from the action or description, said can be the perfect choice propelling the reader toward details rather than narration.
