About Me
I am a high school English teacher. We are cat lovers and we are blessed with our daughter's rescued cat, tuxedo-black Louie, and our recent adoption, tuxedo-marbled Clover. Reading, writing, kayaking and inline speedskating are among my hobbies. My background is Norwegian; I came to Canada at age three. I speak English, French and Norwegian. Language is one of my great passions. If I was shipwrecked on a desolate island, I would want books over music. My favourite authors include these talented writers: Agatha Christie, Henning Mankell, Lawrence Hill, Khaled Hosseini, David Vine, Erik Larson, Delia Owens and Simon Winchester. I think we build peace by expressing goodwill through language.

Favorite Word:

I am a consensus-builder so 'coalescence' resonates with me. I also like the multifarious applications of this word. Finally, 'coalescence' is rhythmic and sonorous.

Least Favorite Word:

'Segue' is ugly in form and spelling. It is also redolent of pomposity.

Favorite Quote:

"After all there is but one race -- humanity."
