About Me
I have engaged in prose combat on many levels. I'm most famous for my College Application Essay, which was originally published in Harper's, and continues to make it's way all over the internet. I wrote for Rolling Stone, Dirt, and Wired Magazine, and also television shows for Comedy Central and MTV. My first novel, "Teeth", was published in the late 90's. Gore Vidal called it "A Dental Masterpiece." About three people read it. (one of them was me.) I wrote a Daft Punk video with Spike Jonze. I also created Von Von Von. Now I do branding/marketing writing at Nemo Design, which is a blast. One of my most profound moments with the written word came from a magnet on display in a Brooklyn ninety-nine cent store. It said: "Words are the fog we see the world through."

sounds like a sexual ointment, but in fact refers to the act of writing or studying, late into the night.

For my entire life, everyone, everywhere has been telling me how amazing, profound and awesome The Bard is. However, I have never been able to connect with his work. I find it rococo, overly embellished, purposely opaque, and distant; both on the page, and on the stage. What makes it worse is that every cheese ball on the face of the earth says they love Shakespeare, and no ever challenges them. I even dislike his name. To me, it sounds like his work: frothy, rich, and contrived. Ew.
