About Me
I am involved in higher education and I teach English to international students. I have been doing this for a very long time, long before the days of the internet. All my students have grown up with the internet and it is where they feel at home so any on-line programme that will help them improve their English is to be welcomed. I plan to introduce them to once I have worked out how it functions. Work takes up a lot of time but I have another life outside work which involves hill walking, playing tennis, gardening, travelling, reading, writing and socialising. I love art galleries and historic buildings and the beautiful and varied countryside we have in Great Britain. I've recently taken up bridge which is supposed to be very good for the brain as one gets older. I have yet to notice the benefits! My children are now all grown up and two of them live abroad so I don't see them as often as I would like but modern communications enable us to all keep in touch.

Favorite Word:

I love walking in the mountains and seeing the snow-covered peaks towering high above. The air is pure and clear. The scenery is magnificent and the blue of the sky, the green of the valleys, the rocky faces of the cliffs and the dazzling white of the snow provide the nearest thing to heaven we can find on this earth. What could be better than coming off the hillside on a summer's evening when the shadows start to lengthen and tired and weary after a long day in the mountains, you head for home

Least Favorite Word:

You stand in a desolate urban landscape and look round in horror at the piles of rubbish that infest every pavement and gutter. No landsacpe is so awful that it cannot be made worse by the detritus of our human existance. What possesses people to casually throw away Coke cans, pizza boxes, crisp packets, chewing gum onto the public thoroughfares? Why do people feel the need to hurl glass bottles down, creating not only unsightly litter but also a potential danger to their fellow- citizens?
