About Me
I'm an American writer, teacher, and musician from the western states (TX, OR, CO, CA) who has lived in Paris for over 20 years. I've translated dozens of books, but have mostly abandoned translation in favor of pursuing my own writing. I often perform as a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller with my wife, who is a superb singer. Currently, I'm working on a novel (in English) of speculative fiction, and will also be working on a text/music performance piece in French. see

Going back to its Greek origin, the various forms of this word suggest not only the "sacred", but something which transcends the duality of subject and object.

Long ago, it was one of my favorite words. Now, I wince every time I hear it. In the middle of a conversation, it's about as welcome to me as a loud fart, and I have to make a similar effort to ignore it.
