Look at the definitions of the words in this "notetaking" list. Then, read the following scenarios and decide which one would call for a summary, which one would call for paraphrasing, and which one would call for a direct quotation.

A. Your little brother doesn't understand the instructions on his homework sheet and you have to help him.

B. You just heard a great line in a song and you want to write it down so you will remember it.

C. You just saw a great movie and want to tell your friend about it.
