Introducing... Our New Page for Educators

We here at the Visual Thesaurus have a long-standing commitment to providing tools for teachers who want to get students excited about language. From our award-winning application to our high-quality lesson plans and other online content, we're constantly looking for ways to help educators enliven their classrooms. Now we're bringing all of those resources together on a redesigned educators page, together with some brand-new features.

On the page, you'll find the latest featured article of interest to educators in the top-left corner, with recent articles listed below. We'll be continuing to feature insider perspectives on language arts education in our Teachers At Work column, and we'll also be putting the spotlight on useful books for teaching vocabulary in our new Book Nook series. Below the featured articles you'll find three new sections: Wordshop (vocabulary tips and tricks to spice up the classroom), Contest Corner (fun challenges for students), and Edulinks (useful sites for educators).

We're very proud of our monthly lesson plans, and now teachers will be able to navigate through our archive with a new lesson plan finder, in the top-right corner of the page. You can search by keyword, subject, grade level, or any combination of these. Just leave the keyword field blank and click "search" to see a list of all our lesson plans in reverse chronological order. Now it's easier than ever for teachers to find just the right lesson plan for their classroom needs.

Further down in the right-hand column you'll find helpful information on the features and benefits of the Visual Thesaurus for teachers. We're also featuring new instructional videos that will offer guidance on how to make the VT work as an educational tool — from its basic use as a dictionary and thesaurus, to more sophisticated integration with classroom technology such as interactive whiteboards. Finally, you'll see a calendar of events in the bottom-right corner, with information on events of particular interest to educators, such as our monthly webinars and our appearances at trade shows and conferences.

No matter where you are on the Visual Thesaurus website, you can always get to the page by clicking "Educators" in the top navigation bar. Or why not bookmark the page to get to it more easily? If you're interested in our educational features, you'll want to check in frequently, because we'll be adding new content on a regular basis. When it comes to resources for teaching, we like to keep things fresh!

As a tutor I don't have an institutional license- however these lessons would be very helpful to someone like me. The more I can use lesson plans the more my students will see the point of purchasing their own copy......
are homeschoolers and tutors allowed access?
