I first read it as a 7th grader in a Washington Irving essay about an upstate New York Christmas and used it in an essay I wrote in the 8th grade. He wrote of his "superannuated spinster aunts." I wrote of my "superannuated widowed grandmother." The word appealed to the little Latinist that I was then, and still appeals to the word person that I am. Moreover, I love agglutination.
